Join the Pathways Program in January 2025

The Pathways Program at the Institute for Clinical Social Work was developed to give students an introduction to graduate school studies, providing them with a deeper understanding of psychodynamic therapy and giving them a chance to explore a future as a therapist. It's in-depth, flexible, and a perfect option for recent college grads and those interested in a career in psychotherapy.

An opportunity to explore graduate school

The emerging Pathways Program at the Institute for Clinical Social Work offers undergrduates and career-changers a unique opportunity. Participants get a chance to experience graduate school — without committing to a graduate school program. You'll earn three graduate level credits that can be applied to ICSW's MA program or another school that accepts those credits.

With the Pathways Program, you'll get deeper understanding of psychodynamic therapy on a flexible schedule. Decide at your own pace whether a future in clinical counseling is for you.

A comprehensive introduction to psychodynamic therapy

Students in the Pathways Program study at the graduate level, and receive a comprehensive, in-depth introduction to psychodynamic therapy. Participants take our course Introduction to Psychodynamic Therapy (CCP 500), which  focuses on a psychodynamic insight, theoretical depth, and clinical relationships.

You'll learn about the unconscious, psychological defenses, repitition compulsion, resistance, dream work, and much more.

A pathway to the MA in Clinical Counseling & Psychotherapy

Taught by our distinguished faculty member, Kurt M. Hanus, PsyD, LCPC, you'll receive not only an understanding of how a course at our school is structured, but you'll get insight into the Masters in Clinical Counseling and Psychotherapy

Students who've participated in the Pathways Program have discovered a renewed desire to continue their academic journey in our MA program and others are becoming clinical counselors and psychotherapists.
