This presentation will provide an overview of the function of the Social Work Department and the unique role of the Mental Health Consultant in Law Enforcement Agencies. LEA's are complex organizations with personnel serving a variety of functions with varying degrees of exposure to distressing or traumatic events. The specific role of the Mental Health Consultant and range of clinical and training engagements will be discussed. The presenter advocates for a quiet, embedded presence and flexible use of clinical knowledge and skill.
