CONSIDER MAKING A QUALIFIED CHARITABLE DISTRIBUTION

Required Minimum Distribution

With a new year, brings new opportunities.

Many people are asking themselves, how they can help their families and communities with trauma, grief, depression, suicidal ideation, and other areas of mental health. You may be asking yourself; how can I make a direct contribution to an institution that has an established reputation in preparing quality psychotherapists and clinicians who serve in various roles across the country?

Did you know that you can’t keep your retirement funds in your account forever?

According to the IRS, if you are 72 or older, you generally must take the Required Minimum Distributions from your IRA, Simple IRA, SEP, IRA, or retirement plan account. If you are fortunate enough to be in a position in which you do not need the minimum distribution, you could make a qualified charitable distribution. While income tax is normally due on each traditional IRA distribution, the account owner does not need to pay taxes on the amount transferred to charity.

Your gift to the Institute for Clinical Social Work would have a significant impact on mental health.
