Carleen Miller, PhD is the Vice President for Global Operations and Culture at Church World Service, a progressive humanitarian organization headquartered in NYC. Previously she was the Deputy Vice President for the Immigration and Refugee Program of Church World Service. From 2008 to 2015, she was the Executive Director of Exodus Refugee Immigration Inc., a refugee resettlement agency in Indianapolis, Indiana. From 1996 to 2009, Carleen worked at The Julian Center a nationally recognized domestic violence and sexual assault services center in Indianapolis. During her tenure with the Julian Center, she most recently held the role of Director for Social Services, Shelter Services, and the Human Trafficking Assistance Program. She also served as an adjunct lecturer at Indiana University and Ivy Tech Community College. Carleen was a member of the Indiana U.S. Attorney’s Task Force on Human Trafficking (IPATH), The City of Indianapolis Public Safety Language Services Advisory Council, The Indiana Immigrant Victims of Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Human Trafficking Task Force and the Indiana State Suicide Prevention Task Force. She also served as a board member for OBAT Helpers a global NGO that provides programming in partnership with stateless persons. She is a licensed Mental Health Counselor and Marriage and Family Therapist. She received a BA in Theology from Valparaiso University, a MA in Marriage and Family Therapy from Christian Theological Seminary, and a PhD in Clinical Social Work from the Institute for Clinical Social Work in Chicago. Recently, Carleen completed a training program in psychoanalysis. Carleen maintains a private psychotherapy and psychoanalysis practice in Manhattan. In her leisure time Carleen enjoys spending time with her partner, dogs, friends, and books as well as dedicating herself to the quest to find the best coffee shop in Manhattan.
