Kurt M. Hanus, PsyD is a psychoanalytic psychotherapist, educator, and clinical supervisor with a private practice in Hinsdale, IL. He is a core faculty member at ICSW where he designed and teaches the Introduction to Psychodynamic Psychotherapy course for the Pathways Program and Case Consultation courses in the Doctoral Program. Dr. Hanus has extensive experience in education having served as faculty and practicum /internship supervisor in graduate mental health counseling programs at St. Xavier University, Viterbo University, and Stetson University. Dr. Hanus completed post-graduate training at The Object Relations Institute for Psychotherapy & Psychoanalysis of New York, and The Center for Religion & Psychotherapy of Chicago. His doctoral research on the therapeutic alliance in tele-health was awarded an Honorable Mention at the National Association for Advancement of Psychoanalysis (NAAP) 2020 Gradiva Awards.

AREAS OF INTEREST & APPROACHES TO PRACTICE

Psychoanalytic psychotherapy with individual adults and clinical supervision for new and experienced clinicians. Particular areas of interest include: men’s issues, attachment and relationship difficulties, character (personality) disorders, teletherapy, and self-development/self-sabotage.
