Dr. Milka Ramírez
Incoming ICSW President
We are delighted to share with you the appointment of Dr. Milka Ramírez as President of the Institute for Clinical Social Work (ICSW). Dr. Ramirez received the unanimous support of the Board of Trustees. She will begin her appointment effective June 1, 2025.
Dr. Milka Ramírez is a visionary leader with nearly three decades of experience spanning diverse educational settings, from early childhood education to post-doctoral programs, in both public and private sectors. With expertise in securing and managing multi-million-dollar funding, Dr. Ramírez’s leadership is characterized by a strategic, results-driven approach to social justice, academic excellence, and transformative change. As the newly appointed President of the Institute for Clinical Social Work, she brings extensive leadership experience and an unwavering commitment to psychodynamic education and treatment.
Throughout her distinguished career, Dr. Ramírez has held various executive leadership positions in higher education and nonprofit organizations. She has pioneered initiatives that not only boost academic performance but also drive student enrollment, diversify revenue streams, and foster inclusive environments. Her leadership in both sectors has established her as a collaborative and impactful advocate for change.
As background, ICSW initiated an inclusive, rigorous, detailed, and comprehensive national search. We were fortunate to have an outstanding pool of qualified, talented candidates. After our comprehensive interview process involving faculty, administration, students, alumni, the community and the Board, Dr. Ramírez emerged as the best and strongest person to lead ICSW.
On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I want to extend my thanks to the ICSW Search Committee for the exceptional work and tireless efforts in the process of creating a position profile, conducting campus wide listening sessions, reviewing candidate credentials, and conducting interviews of all candidates.
